This Japanese docudrama from 1952 is about a teacher who goes back to Hiroshima to visit the graves of her parents and younger sister killed in the bombing.  “Children of Hiroshima” was among the first films to address the subject of the atomic bombings, a subject that would preoccupy much of postwar Japanese cinema.

Written & directed by Kaneto Shindo.  97 minutes.  Originally released on August 6, 1952.  Reissued in 2006.

Discussion will be led by Phil Reiss.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a snack or beverage to share.
